I hope that reading this introduction to my program will stimulate your interest and guide you forward to your next adventure in music, sound, spirituality and health.
To begin with, I teach the classical guitar, flutes, recorders, accordion, mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, theremin, autoharp, ear training, theory, and improvisation on any instrument.
You may come to my studio to try any of my instruments to decide which one really "speaks" to you. I will also visit a music store with you to help you select an instrument of good quality.
My program presupposes that the student and family already have music in its rightful place in the holistic care of the spirit, mind and body. Music should be seen as inseparable from all other disciplines. The connection is present in all cultures.
****Who can learn within this program?
This program will refresh world-class professional performers and teachers. It is also adjustable for the training of beginners as well.
The ways of thinking used in this method will stimulate any person from around the first grade through maturity. If you have ever experienced being bored with school, have ever had a creative block within your own career field, or have issues about performing, this way of learning about music will help you, nourish you and heal you.
I have both linear thinkers and cyclic thinkers in mind. If you enjoy reading about cosmology, metaphysics, Eastern philosophy, psychology and similar areas, this way of working will appeal to you. The system I use is unique because of the surrounding bodies of knowledge I am willing to bring into your experience of learning music. If you want to learn about anything else in the world in addition to music, we can find a connection to your interest with music and this will help us to see the bigger picture of music in the world.
****Why learn this way?
Many people are gifted and talented in selected career fields, but sometimes fall through the cracks of traditional education. I have accumulated materials and information that can be of help to adults and children who need more and special attention in every learning experience. I know the ways of connecting music lessons with every day life so that the WHOLE PERSON is receiving an artistic education. Music, sound and physics are never separate from the rest of our lives, so our lessons must be fully integrated as well.
****What will we learn?

Also, instruction on various instruments can be blended with your favorite instrument, such as keyboard, guitar, flutes, recorder, accordion, dulcimers, autoharp, theremin, mandolin. You may have lessons on a particular instrument, but at one or more lessons, you might like to try another instrument to see how you like it or to work out a particular intellectual puzzle.

****How will we work together?
You bring the questions, I will steer you toward the answers. You will pick the subject matter connected to music. You will drive the lessons and lead the way as I facilitate your experience in learning. This modality uses different materials for every student. There will be very few lesson materials prepared ahead of time. Every lesson is constructed with your creative efforts in mind.
Remember: You may bring your own instrument, including your voice, use one of my instruments, or use a different instrument at each lesson until you find one you want to stay with.
Learning music this way will have you doing your own thinking and planning from the first lesson.
No lesson you ever receive will have an ending. Every lesson will give you complete flexibility for your own exploration within and beyond your artistic dreams.
There will be opportunities to incorporate listening assignments, library visits or attendance to performances to work into your studio visits.
We will begin with an Intake Interview and assessment of your learning style.
After our first session together, you will make a two-month promise to yourself during which time you will be making graduated steps toward your goal within our flexible plan together.
I will provide you with a reading list, the items on which you may use during our lessons or which you may peruse on your own apart from our lessons.
****What is my fee?
For all of this flexibility, my fee will be no greater than that of any other first rate creativity coach in any metropolitan area. Certainly, your rewards will be much greater than with a traditional teacher.
Fifteen minute consultation and studio tour by appointment, free.
Single lessons, $50 per hour.
Eight half-hour weekly lessons, $200.
Eight more one-hour weekly lessons, $400.
